BET Awards this Weekend

This year the BET Hip Hop awards will be hosted in Atlanta, Georgia. It seems that all the stars are flooding the radio stations with interviews updating us on who will be performing. I have heard from a VERY reliable source ヅ that Rick Ross will be performing and you must stay tuned to see who will be performing alongside him. It will be a treat for everyone, I guarantee it! Unfortunately, the awards will not air until the weekend of October 12, 2010. However, I will be sure to post updates and pictures of the stars as time progresses.

Thats all for now!

Shocking lawsuits have accused a top church leader of sexual misconduct. Two separate lawsuits were filed late Tuesday against Bishop Eddie Long, of the New Birth Missionary Baptist Church.

Bishop Long has taken a small congregation in 1987 and built it into a 10,000 seat megachurch in Lithonia.

Now, Bishop Long faces the toughest test of his career.

Bishop Long is used to preaching to thousands at his New Birth Missionary Baptist Church, in Lithonia. Now, he must defend himself from a lawsuit filed by two former church members.

Two lawsuits filed late Tuesday in DeKalb County accuse Bishop Long of inappropriate sexual relationships with two young men from his church.

Maurice Robinson and Anthony Flagg, both in their early 20's, claim in their lawsuits that, "Long utilized his spiritual authority to coerce certain young male members and employees of defendant New Birth into engaging in sexual acts and relationships."

The suit claims the congregation is likely unaware of the practices. But it also says church money was used to foster the relationships.

Robinson, in his suit contends Long used, "monetary funds from the accounts of defendant New Birth to entice the (young men) with cars, clothes, jewelry, and electronics.

Robinson, claimed his long time bishop, who cared for him as he was growing up in the church would use "the Holy Scripture to discuss and justify the intimate relationship."

The Healthy Lunch Box

September 15, 2010

The Lunch Box
Today I was watching the Rachel Ray show and she was going over some different ideas for the lunch box. Her suggestions included grilled cheese sandwiches, tuna melts and chicken nuggets (among a few other ideas). I have learned after having a child who is in the 3rd grade, that he would rather take a lunch than buy. So I have had to become extremely clever and creative when making his lunch. I know I am not the only one going though this …. Or am I?
When Rachel spoke of the chicken nuggets she said that we as parents should make our own dip sauce….SMART! This way we can put all of the healthy ingredients into our sauces. It is now encouraged by my sons’ school to bring healthy lunches and snacks to eat. So instead of throwing a cupcake in the lunch box I will swap it for a granola bar. And it is important to always put a piece of fruit in the lunchbox. Lastly, put a small water bottle in the lunch box instead of a sugary juice drink.

I thought that these were all great little tips to keep our child(ren) healthy!

VMA Recap

The VMA’S Recap

So last night was the VMA’s and there were a lot of things that were hot and A TON of things that were not! So let’s do a quick rundown of the show. Eminem and Rhianna opened the show. I can honestly say that it was a HOT moment. I have a small fascination with Eminem, Rhianna on the other hand is sporting a new look; fire engine red hair. Ummmm the hair color is nice but I was NOT feeling the style. Who styled her hair? Whoever did that to her should be FIRED!

Another highlight of the night was a performance by Usher Raymond. Ok, I was on Twitter last night and it seemed Usher was the cause for a major dialogue. Unfortunately, all of the talk surrounding Usher was negative. I personally love Usher but I am a little biased (those that know me know why). Usher had a great performance but he has been referenced as “Grandpa Usher”. Awwwwwww Lol

Other people that showed up to the VMA’s included Your heigness Cher, Mary J Blige, Paramore, the little Bieber dude and Kanye. All in all it was a great show and if you missed it just stay tuned to MTV because I am sure they will re-run it throughout the week.

Peace for now!

Social Media a Hostile Takeover

MY THOUGHTS FOR THE DAY

So, I just realized how many social networking sites I am associated with. Let's just say it's too many. I wish there was one universal site that allowed me to post a status update and link it to all of my other social sites. Or better yet, if all of the social sites were consolidated into one particular site. Hmm, I wonder if that is even possible. Another question that I thought about as well is how much does the WAHM contribute to these sites? It is assumed that the WAHM is plugged in at all times. So are they the highest contributor to the social networking scene? I for one am a WAHM and I have become more and more glued to my laptop. If I am not on my laptop, I am on my Wifi enabled Ipod. I feel it is a MEDIA TAKEOVER!

Does Your Child Dress Up for Halloween?

So here is the question: DO YOU DRESS YOUR CHILD UP FOR HALLOWEEN? I have two children, one is 8 years old and the other; 15months. I allowed my eldest child to dress up for Halloween only once. Halloween is believed to be a night of ghouls and goblins. My dilemma is that there are so many cute little costumes for children these days that I am thinking of actually allowing my children to dress up from this point forward. Not that my beliefs have been altered but it is more along the lines that I think it is okay to have my children dress in costumes such as angels, M&M's, Panda bears etc... and also take them trick or treating. Hmmmmm.. this is just something that is on my mind because the season is approaching us. So I guess I still have some time to decide but Im still not sure.

Are you caught up in the Social Networking Craze?

So it seems that social netorking has taken the world by storm. So much so, there are positions available that look at "Twitter" as a skill. Is this not hilarious? Ok, ....let me not put on a front about this................yea, yea, yea.. I hold the social networking card! And now that I think about it, YES I can list Twitter as a skill. Can you? LOL....

There is no such thing as a SAHM....WE ARE WAHM'S!!!

So today was a busy one. From taking care of personal/ family business, negotiating, mentoring and being a wife and mother...I am pooped. People probably don't understand that alot goes into the day of a SAHM. The day begins by getting everyone ready for school & the husband off to work. Then comes the cleaning duties and let us not forget about the  laundry, household budgeting, grocery shopping, cooking and running errands. I wonder who the person is that made up the acronym SAHM (Stay At Home Mom). This Person clearly does not understand that the mother that is home is also working. hmmmm thoughts?
